MUSLIM WOMEN MUST PLAY THEIR ROLE IN REFORMING OUR SOCIETY

It is important to recognize that in Islam, home and family are firmly situated at the centre of life and what brings about our societal decadence today originates from family of secularist ideology that many do engage in.
Islam teaches us that a good society could only be formed when a family is established on Allah’s principles which will checkmate individual excesses.
Since our society is made of families and families are built up by individuals, the role women play in rebuilding a society cannot be quantified.
It needs to be understood that Islam really honoured women in society by elevating them and protecting them with unprecedented rights.
Islam gave women the right to education, to marry someone of their choice, to retain their identity after marriage, to work, to own and sell property, to seek protection by the law, to vote, and to participate in civic and political engagement only excepted them from being a ruler in a mixture environment.
Today as we live in a society that gives no right to Muslim women just like the early days of Islam where Muslim women were not protected, respected or honoured, it is high time Muslim women summon the courage of the past Muslimaat, who during their lives, their motherhood did not restrict them from being actively involved in social services and in upholding a social morality and societal balance.
Our women must be involved in all areas of lives where they are more needed.
They are responsible for the nurturing, guidance and reformation of the subsequent generations of men and women. Orientation has to been given that being covered does not they should not serve their community, mingle with women of lesser faith, show the beauty of Islam to other women and be an active member in the community.
To build a nation, we all need to be involved.
